An optimetrist is sometimes confused with an optimist.
In a way they're similar - the optimist views the world through rose-coloured lenses.

WE IN THE USA SEE THINGS WITH RUOE COLORED LENSES
ONLY GIRLS WEAR JUMPERS
WHEN THE WEATHER IS A BIT CHILLY WE WEAR SWEATERS
WE DO NOT WEAR SINGLETS WE WEAR UNDERSHIRTS
WAS optimetrist

I assume they must have eaten more-traditional food on the days we were close.

May I be so bold to bring to your attention that in the sphere of blogging, forums and whatnot on the internet, it is widely accepted that writing in capital letters denotes SHOUTING. Proper internet etiquette requires one to lay off the capitals, and certainly not to write entire posts in all-caps..

On the topic of intercontinental differences
An American tourist in Australia was injured in an automobile accident and was taken to hospital
When he came to and realized where he was he asked
When was I brought in
He was told
You were brought in today
On which he turned pale in fright
Why ?

That is how your technician programmed your computer
I programmed mine
control 1 is Yiddish
control 2 is English
For some strange reason I find 1 key easier than 2

I just found out that the story about Aussies saying "todie is the die to die" instead of "today is the day to die" is very much an exaggeration Most Australians do don't say "die" for day
We will have to wait for our British friends to tell us if it could have happened there
